What a fantastic weekend for the August section of the
10GHz and up Cumulative Contest. I had never seen S9+40
signals at 200 miles. Heard about it but now I have seen
it for two days. Good choice to schedule the 'test in
August. Early calculation shows the following:
          KC0P N0HZO
Contacts 208 207

Dist Pts 42486 42384

16 Calls 1600 1600

Score 44086 43984

Hard to believe that the eight High Speed Rovers made
26 setups without snagging some cables while taking
the rig out of the car/van such as to break the rig.
We appreciate all the hustle by all the operators
including those that made fewer than 26 setups. The
plans and execution/adaptation were terrific. Seldom
have so many done so much with so few centimeters
(only three). We want to come out to play with you
guys again. The biggest challange was the CW backscatter
contact with KF9US. Got Phil to pick out my call sign
and grid, I give him a 339 report for his 17 dbi horn
pointed out across the water. We needed 3 by 3 format to
piece it together.

Thanks again for all the fun QSO's. And thanks to Tony KD0JI
for the loan of his truck for a quick trip from Great Sand
Bay to Eagle Harbor Inn for coffee and carrot cake. Picked
up a lot of tokens with that 45 minute break. We also had
a fun time in Cooper Harbor for the evening meal with eight
of us around the table after that beautiful trip to the
top of Mt. Brockway. There must have been 30 people with
blankets on the ground, watching the sun go down. They had
their thing and we pointed across the lake to pick up
another 8 contacts at greater than 100 miles.
