Hi Guys

Gray and I worked off 10Ghz Rain Scatter tonight at 01:01z SSB. I had
called Gary with a cell south that appeared like it might be a "goodie". I
carried the gear to the dock down on the lake and set up. I turned the rig on
and heard Gary right off the bat.. BUT .... there IS A PROBLEM!! ... The
10Ghz rig was COLD and the xtal heater was doing it's thing!! You talk about
drift. Constant tuning was required .. Gary's CW sig was about S2 .... I
called him on FM but with the drift the copy was poor .... so ... SSB ... there
he is S2 ... DRIFTING .... saying "K0AWU W0GHZ EN34" and I'm
answering .... drifting ..... Not good ... signal is now gone. Frequency or
path??

After the rig stablized a bit I had him beacon again and I peaked the dish up
again. Guess what?? BELOW the horizon based upon the level on the tripod,
Bouncing off the lake??? Who cares S-9 on the meter! SSB exchange of
Calls, Grids, RRs, Time, etc .... Very cool!

Photos will be available on My Web Site....

Thanks Gary!!
