Forgot to reply to the xverter linking question. Sure you can
connect one transverter to other i.e. 28MHz IF to 144xverter becomes
IF for 1296 xverter. Just keep in mind that the xverter doesn't need
any power from the IF. I decided to go with 10W common IF on all my
transverters from 50MHz through 5760. That was the best thing I ever
did. There are many options here as well - (I know that down east
has a 25W IF option too.) You may even want a lower power IF
interface - just try to have it the same for each xverter. As for
the 144 xverter you could certainly use a coax switch to route the
28MHz IF from the HTX10 between different xverters - say 222 and 432.
Since it would be switching only low power at 28MHz it wouldn't have
to be a real spendy one. The only problem you encounter is the PTT
keying - but that isn't too tough a problem - I just use a multipole
switch to select which xverter PTT line works. That's about it from
me - hope you get more replies - trouble is the UHF test is tomorrow
so many of the folks are busy getting ready for that. I will have
to sit this one out again unfortunately.
