Hi Guys

For a while I thought it was my imagination, NOPE it is real. I have been
HEARing a LOT of HEAVY turboprop traffic since we got home from our
Florida trip. On about 4 or 5 occasions I have made trips to the yard with
binoculars to try to get a look at these "birds". Just a few moments ago while
listening to STRONG 432 radar, I once again hear the deep rumble of
turboprops. A quick trip to the backyard with the binoculars this time
confirmed a theory.

The radar we are hearing is airborne radar from 4 engine turboprop aircraft
fly constant E-W patterns over northern Minnesota for an unknown distance
in both directions. The AWAC type dish was VERY visible as well as a P-6
type stinger extending the fuselage beyond the tail. This flight a few min ago
was by far the lowest flight that I have observed.

With the aircraft overhead the radar nulled out, only to return a few
moments later as he passed the zenith.

I thought they had been moving down to 432 every once in a while, but now
I think it was just a matter that they were getting closer and as a result
LOUDer!

I would guess we know why they are flying. Only time will tell how much
longer it will be needed.
