[NLRS] Anyone using Quads?

Quads? Smoke and mirrors, and a general lack of forward gain with large
cross polarized lobes at 45 degrees from straight ahead.

There's a ham who makes quads for 2m. Shows up at the Cedar Rapids
hamfest, perhaps others. He brought some to a CSVHF conference in Cedar
Rapids, the gain was quite poor, he grumbled about the testing
procedures (though practiced by WB0TEM for decades with consistent
results). His quads are diamonds that are flattened and the bare copper
wires are strung loosely.

Among the weakest signals I ever heard from 100 miles away came from
quagis. I know the gain claims, I just haven't heard the accompanying
strong signals.

Then there's the ice survival, or their lack or survival, plus their
added height when planning multiple antennas on a single mast.

But then you could be looking at 11 element CC that produce far less
then their claimed gain and are still being made and sold.

An antenna that can't prove its gain claims at a VHF conference AND by
computer analysis with one of the NEC derivatives, doesn't have that
claimed gain.
