I am putting up a 40 ft Universal Self Supporting Tower. I would be
happier with 50 ft but my City restricts tower height based on lot
size. My moderate sized suburban lot allows 40ft. I will have about 8
ft of mast above that. That is the only rule or restriction here, no
engineering studies, detailed construction drawings or inspections are
required. Of course my wallet is much happier with 40 ft since I got
a very good deal on some tower sections and only had to buy one at
factory price. I am also getting my overhead power lines buried to
make room for a dipole for 80 and 160. Most of the tower capacity
is being taken up by a 5 element tri-band beam. I enjoy HF contesting
also. I will have at least 2 meters and 432 or 222 maybe all three. I
haven't decided on a plan for 6 meters yet.
I am definitely not giving up on Rover activities for VHF/UHF
contests. I am going to be active again for the January contest with
a much different schedule than in the past. John, KC0LBT is planning
a team rover event that I am going to be part of.

Jon, very good news indeed! Hope you remembered to put the anchor
bolts or
tower base in!
Seriously, give us an update on what your up to. I did not know you
were
putting up a tower.
