Sprint was very different this year with mostly AU propagation which
made things really interesting at times. As the band would change so
would the stations worked from grid to grid. In spite of the rain
and hot/cold band condx I operated from 4 grids (got sweeps with at
least 4 stations: KM0T, N0AKC, KA0PQW, and KB9TLV) and operated
pretty much on schedule. I put the rover together in record time
(<1.5 hours) which was great (love the one band setup..). Lowest
productive grid for me was EN44 (10qso X 7 mults) .. best was EN33
with 17qso X 14mults.
Highlights:
Working N0PB from 2 grids.
Hearing and working Peter, VE3AX from EN44.
Working W0AMT/R from 2 grids .. many tnx Jon! Really appreciate
another rover out there - I know what a pain it can be out in the
rain..
Other comments:
Even with the AU contest was pretty "local" for 50MHz. Sorry I
missed Gene, N0DQS/R too. A few stations had some pretty big
signals.. KM0T, W9JN loudest here.
I know a few folks must have been checking out 144 as well .. band
got a bit quiet around 0200Z .. I would have done the same if I was
home - hi. Looking forward to June contest.. I will be at the farm
again on the ridge in EN43dw as last year. Thanks again for the
qso's.
Total claimed score:
KF0Q/R EN33,34,43,44
51 qso X 39 grids = 1,989 points (ol' fashioned rover scoring)
