You did not indicate your primary use ...... satellite, vhf weak signal,
HF, etc ? My thoughts are that the FT100 may have a somewhat better
receiver than the 706 ..... however the general coverage receiver ranges
are different, so again, it depend on what you want/need. Both the FT100
and 706 have HF/VHF/UHF capability while I believe the 820 is more aimed at
satellite work (?).
