After a 3-week hiatus, I finally managed to get some updates done to
the NLRS web pages. I have one more submission frm K0MHC that I plan
to implement soon (Thanks, Jim, I haven't forgotten it!), and I expect
that Donn et. al. will probably be sending me some Aurora 2002 info to
be posted in the near future, since that annual event is drawing close!
I merged all the results I had for the January 2002 VHF Sweepstakes
with all the data that Rich (N0HJZ) had gathered, and updated that
page accordingly. If any of you have submitted a log but you are
not showing up on the NLRS "claimed scores" page, I would be happy
to receive your information and add it to our page. Likewise, if
you ARE listed but you find any mistake, I would be happy to fix my
blunder(s).
I completely revamped the online club roster page, using the list of
current members eligible for participation in ARRL Club events. I
might have missed some of you, if you are current members but haven't
been to the minimum required number of meetings prior to the January
contest. I decided to skirt the issue of listing email addresses
where web crawling spiders and other "bots" might find them for the
spammers, by removing that column from the table. In place of that,
I now have a "hot link" for each member that brings up the "detail"
page for your callsign from the QRZ.COM web site. If you have
registered an email address with QRZ, it will be shown on that page.
The advantage here is that the QRZ detail page is not a static file
that a web crawler can find, it is created on the fly only when a
specific callsign is passed to their server. So it should be an easy
way for humans to find your email address while still shielding
everyone from the spammers who want to find you this way. I encourage
you all to check it out, make sure I have your information correct,
and make sure that the hot link to QRZ works correctly for you and
shows as much information as you are willing to make public. (Of
course, some of the data on the QRZ web page is derived directly from
the public FCC database, and therefore can't be supressed.)
