Hi gang!

Just in case you forgot, this weekend is ARRL Field Day. Many local clubs
will be on the air and some of them will have VHF/UHF too. Six meters has
been open so often recently that we can even hope for some decent activity
there. Maybe even some new grids as people move around to try a new spot.
If you are in or around the shack, turn on the radio, listen a little and
give a few calls. Maybe you'll get lucky....

And if you want to try a few higher bands, the East Central Minnesota
Amateur Radio Club (www.ecmarc.org) will be on the air with all bands from
80M through 1296. Surprise them a little and hand out some Q's on the upper
bands. In fact if you want to operate the equipment you are welcome to
visit them at the Isanti County Fairgrounds east of Cambridge MN on Hwy 95.
To get there take Central Ave (Hwy 65) north to Cambridge, then drive east
on Hwy 95 to the fairgrounds. Or you can go north on I-35 to North Branch
and drive west on Hwy 95 to the fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are well
marked on the north side of the road and I am informed you can't miss the
tower and antennas...... They have some pictures from FD2000 on their web
site.

What about me? I'll be at the state capitol parking lot Q for Field Day.
This is the usual 10 GHz "state capitol" contest location for NLRS. If I'm
lucky I'll play with 6M a bit but otherwise I'll be trying various sound
card programs and giving packet, APRS, and SSTV demo's for the 300 points
they bring..... If you'd like to work satellite, we'd be happy to have you
bring out some equipment.<g> And more operators are always needed if you
have time on your hands. The most fool proof way to get there will be to
take Rice Street, drive one block north of University Ave, then turn east
(right) and drive up hill as far as it goes. We'll have at least one tower
trailer parked on the overlook where we run 10 GHz. Last year it was flood
lit at night so we could see what direction the beam was pointed.<g>

Hope to hear you on the air. Hope to see you at capitol lot Q. Bring radios!
