The rhombic without termination giving symmetric pattern front to rear
exists only in the SMALL (less than a wavelength to a side) rhombic or
the antiquated rhombic theory that neglects radiation of energy from the
traveling wave. The large sidelobes of the Laport Rhombic are not at the
horizon, they are displaced about 45 degrees right, left, up, and down
and are diagonally polarized, relatively useless for communication but
quite effective at supplying ground noise to the receiver.
A 6' yagi has the same gain and better S/N and cures many turning radius
problems.
