Hi all,
I want to thank all who followed me around that I worked this last
weekend. Sorry about the late start, did not hit all the grids I wanted to
but still did 12. Driving last weekend was tough, seems that all afternoon
Saturday I was fighting 15-25 mph winds and Sunday spent most of the day
driving head into 25mph+ winds in South Dakota and Central Nebraska plus
lots of sand blowing in NE. Did overheat the Diesel because of this and had
to take it a bit easy Sunday afternoon. Really was beat fighting the winds
all day. Still not a real bad contest considering that 2 meters was not real
good. Worked N0UK,N0QJM and KM0T a lot as well as WB0ULX and N0LL. Did not
hear much to the south east. Worked N0LL in EM09 on 2,222,432 from up in
EN23 and worked W0EEA en DM79 Colorado from EN03 in South Dakota, that was
some of my best DX. Did work the fellows in DN95 a couple of times also.
Still turned out to be fun and I finished the contest in EN 21 about 30
miles from home ( usually I am about 3-4 hours from home). I added some pics
to my WebPages which show my new crankup mast for the back of the rover, it
real worked slick. Mounted borrowed dishes on there for the beginning of the
test but took them off for some more testing. Anyhow I have another tower in
the works and might make a couple more. I am going to add a 12 volt winch
motor and remote in the future) man talk about lazy) Anyhow thanks to all
and watch out over the next 2-3 months as I am working on some Grid
expeditions and maybe one in the next 2 -3 weeks which may include a bunch
of grids in Nebraska, maybe Kansas tip of Colorado etc. Not sure if it will
come together or not but watch for future posts.
