For the rules see QST July 2002 p. 96. You could also
look at the ARRL web site under contests.

Contest dates: Saturday and Sunday August 17 and 18,
and September 21 and 22. Perhaps operation at Lake
Superior the first weekend. No plans yet.

Times: a maximum of 24 hours each weekend between
the hours of 6 AM local time Saturday and 12 Midnight Sunday.
Listening time counts as operating time.

The exchange is your 6 digit grid square. For example EN34jv.

Scoring: Jon has it correct. 100 points for each unique station
that you contact during the contest. You can work the same station
repeatedly, provided that one of the two stations has moved at least
10 miles. You score 1 point for each kilometer of distance between
the two stations. Total score is the total of all distance points
plus the total unique station points.

We will have to setup something for the WBFM only ops.
The distance we are now getting on narrow band make it
hard to keep the WBFM ops busy all the time. More discussion
is needed on this part of the contest operations. I would like
to hear from the rest of you who would like to get of for the
contest. There are many WBFM units and a few narrow band
units that can be loaned out.

For more information, contact me and I will forward some of our
past e-mails. I don't know if the NLRS has an e-mail archive, but
if it exists, check there for last years results. There will also be
more discussion on this reflector as the contest dates get
closer.
