I did a quick scan of my January contest log ..... here are some interesting
observations.
* On 222 MHz, 20 of 45 QSOs, or 44%, were with Rovers
* On 903 MHz, 11 of 18 QSOs, or 61%, were with Rovers.
* Of 360 total QSO's over eight bands, 109 or 30% were with Rovers.
Thanks goes to W0AMT/R, WB0LJC/R (or portable?), NA0IA/R, N0LNO/R, KF0Q/R,
KA0YSQ/R, N9NRF/R, and N0DQS/R.
Regarding FM, 19% of my 2m contacts, 20% of my 222 contacts, and 8% of my
432 contacts were with that mode. Only about 8% of my 360 QSOs were made
using CW, but those 8% accounted for 23% of all grid multipliers.
So, in summary, Rovers are good, FM can account for about 20% of your
contest contacts on 2, 222, and 432, and CW is important for working
(distant) multipliers. On 1296, 3 of 7 grids were worked using CW.
So, thanks Rovers. Lets keep practicing our CW .... even 8 wpm is good for
10 dB.
