John, how does the rice steamer work on 10 GHz? Is it white rice or
brown rice?

I'm no expert, but it's amazing how many devices emit undesirable RF
these days. The squelch on my FT-50r handheld used to open every
time I walked through my Family Room when it was tuned to the 147.21
repeater. It turned out to be RF coming out of a Canon BJC inkjet
printer. And the noise came out whether the printer was turned on
or turned off! (There was a microprocessor inside the printer that
ran all the time, even when the printer turned off.) The reason for
the past tense is that the printer died, and was replaced with a
HP OfficeJet printer that doesn't generate enough RFI to bother me.
But the rice steamer that my daughter bought for the kitchen now
makes it impossible for me to use the handheld in that room of the
house! Why on earth a RICE STEAMER should generate substantial RFI
is beyond me, but it's a fact!
Good luck tracking it down!
John
