I agree it is probably packet or pager. But I'd expect it would have to be
in your back yard (<1/4 mile?) to desense you that bad. Listen on an HT for
packet signals and see if they correspond with your desense. A paper clip
or resistor lead would probably be all the antenna you'd need if its close
enough to desense you.
I did a quick listen on 144.390 for APRS. The loudest signal is the
digipeater in Moundsview. It has been on the air since late October. It is
usually keyed a minimum of 2 or 3 times a minute. Another station at my
house in N St Paul gets keyed on average once every 2 minutes. and has been
on the air for a month. Neither of these should be close enough to cause
you trouble.
The nearest packet node is (145.670?) at the Ramsey Cty EOC, 694 & Rice.
But it seldom gets keyed and has been on the air for over 5 years. Other
packet frequencies are in the 144.9 to 145.09 and 145.61 to 145.69 area.
If you do a listen and think it corresponds to a packet signal, let me know
and we can try to find out who it is. If you don't have packet or a
computer sound card program, I can bring something over and we'll see.....
It may be that a transmitter needs adjustment.... Or maybe the RF meter
reader on your house has gone wacko.<g>
