Jon, I use a FT-736 with the 222 and 1296 modules installed and have used it
the last year or two with success and much satisfaction. I use an outboard
amp ( 110) watts on 222 and no external amp on 1296. I did use the 2 meter
module as and if for the transverters but this year I am not using 2 or 432
on it ( great for backup if the other rig fails) I do run it off of the auto
power supply and have had no problems with it but I do run 2 batteries and I
never shut the rover off when operating. On 1296 I use a 35 el yagi and 4
stacked loops on 222 but if you can find room on 222 use a yagi. I don't
have room right now. Good luck with your decisions and have fun!
