I had an a great day over on Lake Michigan. Great because of good weather
and beautiful spots. Not quite as organized as Twin Cities operation--but
fun none the less. Marc N8KWX and Mike AA9IL were with me...or I was with
them on the ILL/WI side. In the morning, WB9SPT and NN9X were down in
Indiana on some dunes for about a 60 mile shot to each. I assumed that
WB9SPT was going to work his way northward along the shore for shots every
10 miles. Not the case. He drove all day and finally at 5pm, we got
another shot at him and now WB8TGY joining him but now they were located up
in Northern Michigan not too far from K2YAZ.

We operated from three locations. Ill Beach State Park near Zion, IL. Then
just south of Kenosha Harbor, and then Wind Point lighthouse on the north
side of Racine. I had originally imagined that we were gonna get about 3
more stops in--like Milwaukee, Mequon, and then Port Washington. But not
today.

When we started the day, I checked the Radar and there was big weather over
Madison fast moving to the east. I expected it by noon. Well, it never
arrived where we were. It did get near K2YAZ and several times his signals
had some smearing on them.

So I worked K2YAZ over 190 miles, 180 miles, and 160 miles more or less.
Got 6 callsigns. Had fun. Ready for more tomorrow.

Oh, did I mention that I'm living fast. I departed Milw at 7pm and took 2
naps along the way arriving here in the cities at 4am. I'll be up 7ish and
heading out by 8am. Lenny, I'll be jabbering on .46 along in there
somewhere.

Oh, one area I know I want to evolve to is liaison work on 432. A 25w rig
and a small beam should allow talkback without messing with the IF. Well,
that's down the road somewhere.

More chatter later.... And yes, I'll bring WB to Mounds at noon. Then I
have to work my way out NW in the Afternoon as I have a dinner date in Alex
at 5pm. So, just thinking aloud here....Len maybe I should go south to the
places I know in the morning to get in some 30-40 mile shots with you. I'll
do maybe three spots total...possibly two. Vasa obviously and maybe
Redwing...but I could be talked into Highview Rd near Cannon Falls.

More in the morning. living fast...now sleeping fast.
