Hello, all!
So much to do, so little time to do it!
I have borrowed one of Donn's WBFM rigs, so I will be on the air some
time and somewhere this weekend. It sounds like the WBFM activity is
going to be mainly happening on Sunday starting around noon, but I'd
be happy to be proven wrong.
I am trying to take up Ed (KB0MNK) on his offer to loan out his SSB
rig, but we haven't worked out a transfer yet. I'll keep trying. I'd
like to get in on some of the long-haul paths.
I'm an extreme rookie at this 10 GHz stuff. I played in the contest
last year, using one of Donn's WBFM rigs (probably the same one as he
loaned me this time), so I have at least a feel for the mechanics of
operating the unit. But I've only been to two of the sites in person,
Mounds Park and the Capitol Overlook. Armed with my GPS, laptop, and
TopoUSA, plus the site lists posted on the reflector, I guess I could
find my way to the other sites. But I really don't know as well as
some of you which pairs of endpoints are the easy ones and which are
the hard or impossible ones. So, I'd probably be a lot more productive
if I tagged along with someone else.
Anyone want my company on Saturday? Since I may be limited to WBFM
on Saturday, I probably should not go out to some far distant site
unless the operator I shadow is going to be moving around and is going
to have WBFM with them, that way we can at least work each other (from
at least 1 Km away and at least one sub-grid away) if there's no one
else in my range).
