The Storms Prediction Center has most of Central and Southern MN in a
moderate-risk area though 1200Z 17 Aug (0700 Saturday). Whether or not
we'll be affected for Contesting depends on how quickly the stuff moves
though tonight and in the early morning hours of tomorrow.

The SKYWARN Instructor in me is coming out when I say Please Be Carefull (!)
tomorrow morning. For lightning safety, you don't want to be the tallest
thing around, and yet that's exactly where we'll be for contesting!
Lightning can strike up to 7-10 miles from the storm that its associated
with. Its better to err on the side of caution. ANY question in your mind,
take shelter. A car works OK to shelter you. If you feel your skin
"tingling," or you notice your hair standing on end TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATLY.
Don't bother with the sked, or the equipment... get inside the car ! And
note that it DOES NOT have to be raining to have a lightning strike.

All that said, I hope everything moves through and we have a beautiful
morning.

Good Hunting tomorrow !!
