I want to let the NLRS membership know that Jim kb0ikp passed away
March 3rd after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a major supporter
of vhf/uhf weak signal operation and helped many new stations get on the
air over the years. Cards and such can be sent to his wife Roxanne at
his callbook address. Jim's voice and loud signal from en25 will be
missed during contests and band openings. As a memorial to Jim I would
like to see if the club can pick up the callsign for a 2 meter beacon
(we can find a site) pointed NE for AU openings ( I have an FM rig and a
keyer I could donate for the beacon). We will have to get Roxanne to
release the call to the club which I don't think will be a problem.

ps: I will be helping to dispose of some of the antennas and towers and
amplifiers, please don't bother Roxanne with requests for gear, I will
post a list in 2 weeks or so after I have a chance to take an inventory
of the vhf gear. I do know at this point that a 105 foot tower with a
large stack of vhf/uhf yagis is available, email me for details if you
have the space for a large guyed tower.
