Wasn't the Model T started by using a hand crank?

 

I drove a weapons carrier, 3/4 ton Jeep, for a short time when I was in the Air Force, it had that manually engaged Bendix drive just above the gas pedal and was the only vehicle I ever drove that had that kind of starter.

In other news, Ford has also decided to go back to manual chokes in all their cars, starting in 2025. 

 

Ford is also considering a manual crank starter option for the 2026 or 27 model year. This will reduce starter wear and battery consumption and help save the planet.

Ford Motors has reversed their ridiculous decision, and will continue to install AM radios in their vehicles!

Perhaps the other car companies with follow. I hope those emails and text messages to congress, made the difference.
