I went down a similar path a few years ago when I was working on restoring a PA amp. The fabric was torn and ugly and I was going to replace it and recover it myself.
I can't tell from the few pictures I found on google images if it's the same stuff on the TT1, but if it's similar to the covering on things like PA Amps and portal record players, you might have luck from guitar amp restoration shops. They call the material Tolex.
I ultimately cheaped out and never recovered my amp (was going to go with tweed tolex and snazz it up a bit), but I bailed and moved on to one of my other thousand projects\interests\hobbies and forgot about it.
Matt
