Hi Joe, I found a Simpson 260 series 7 this weekend for $3, gotta love
estate sales. The D battery had leaked but the negative terminal can be
repaired, thankfully the battery compartment was unaffected. Lots of
info at http://www.simpson260.com/
"Use a 1/4-inch screwdriver to remove the four screws through the bottom
of the case. Then remove the front panel assembly from the case. This
assembly includes..." The manual is available at:

You can GENTLY tap the case wtih a soft implement to loosen it up. The batteries in that meter are at the bottom, so it is POSSIBLE leakage could stick the case shut...?

Seems to work perfectly for AC and DC volts, but I'd like to get inside and change out the battery to get full functionality out of it. I unscrewed the four screws on the back of it, but the back cover won't budge a millimeter. Am I missing something here? Is there a trick to it, or are my worst fears reality in that the battery let go and the resultant mess is what's holding it shut?
