Hi Joe,
All I heard was crickets, so I'll weigh in on this.
I think you want something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-PHILCO-TUBE-RADIO-part-Working-FIELD-COIL-SPEAKER-9-type-E-/331696700301?hash=item4d3aa9fb8d:g:mgcAAOSwo0JWNYxu
If you look at the Model 87 schematic, it says the speaker field coil is
3200 ohms:
This is the important parameter. 3500 ohms is close enough for
government work. The earlier speakers had higher resistance coils. If
you use something from a newer radio with, say 500 ohms, you might have
to re-engineer the power supply circuit to get everything working
correctly. The 9" speaker should physically fit OK, I don't know about
an 11" unit.
I was a little confused about the guy's 320-ohm voice coil, but I'll bet
he was reading the output transformer primary, rather than the secondary
/ voice coil, which should be 10-ohm'ish.
Hope that helps,
Al
