I should have added that, The tube needs to be slit lengthwise, I did that,
and it seemed to wrap the batteries just fine, as the original had...
Sounds like you took it a step further, and made an improvement.. !

Wow! I was thinking about this last night, and wondered if the tension
on the tube shrinking would be sufficient to hold the batteries without
gluing. Tried it this morning and it was. So, gluing was an additional
step. Great minds think alike!
