[NJARC] Surge limiting resistor

I've come across something I haven't seen before.  It's a Surge Limiting Resistor.  This is going into a Philco C-579.  (Pg 16 in Beitmans 1955)  It's a little plastic case radio.  It also has a phenolic board with copper tracing.  That's seen better days as well.  It seems the only thing holding me back is this resistor.

Can anyone lead me to a source for them?  The schematic says 880 ohms when cold / 50 ohms when hot.
