That I never tried Al. The majority of commercial coherers that I have are not sealed to vacuum, or otherwise. I had one where the glass was missing but the rods where there and I bought about 10 pieces of 15 inch long glass tubing so I could cut off a little over an inch. Fits perfectly. The OD is 5mm and the ID is 3mm. If you notice, the early EI coherers were not sealed either. Of course the Marconi and the Branly were. My earliest one is an L.E. Knott from 1900 which is also not sealed. The rods fit very snugly inside the glass tube so that none of the fillings can escape. Of course there is a guy on eBay selling coherers that he made (or had made for him), which are sealed, for about $50 each, if you want to go that route. I did buy a few of them 7 years ago just for the heck of it. Just checked and he is still selling them, so look at 311400972601 . 73 - Mike

Mike,
How are you at glass blowing, making a T, and sealing the ends, etc.? I saw a crazy Britt on YouTube who used plastic aquarium tubing. I still have some glass tubing. We'll see what happens.
