Joe,

You should be OK with the headphone output into the RCA cable.  An 
important consideration is to have control over the volume.   If you 
can't force the radio to "mono,"  you might need to cobble up an adapter 
to combine the "tip" and "ring" signals.  Just hooking them together is 
OK for starters.
