The Army trained me to repair R-390A's. I was in Japan and Korea and
can say that from time to time a part purchased on the local economy was
put into a piece of military gear.
Also, in Japan we had a Tektronix scope, maybe a 545, that demanded only
one particular brand of 6DJ8 in the trigger circuit to work properly, no
other would do the job.
