Gang,

The Museum crew has become involved in the IEEE Engineering Mini-Academy
program, an undertaking to inspire high-school students to a careers in
engineering. We'll be participating in February. One of our exercises
is the assembly of a simple FM transmitter using one transistor,
emphasizing the concept of "breadboarding.".

After assembly the kids get to attach their mobile device, and see how
far away they can hear their favorite music. We did a test run of this
last evening, victimizing some 11th graders. It was a notable success.

Now we need to gear up to produce about 10 kits. Most of the parts are
easily available on Ebay, directly out of China for almost no money, but
we need some variable capacitors. Something in the neighborhood of
50-75 pF that's easily panel mounted, and has a 1/4" shaft. Like these:

What's out there?

Al
