Subject: [NJARC] Seeking 78 record player
I may be in need of a crappy little record children's' player capable of playing a 78. Could be single speed or multi-speed. This will probably be used only once or twice, so doesn't need to be anything better than potentially workable. Rough is OK; I'll sand and paint, oil and recap as necessary.
The backstory: a childhood friend of mine's mother (I just recently found out) was part of an Andrews Sisters-style singing group that did USO tours in the forties.

While sorting through some of my mountain of old 78s the other day I was pleasantly surprised to run across one of her records. Her 93rd birthday is coming up at the end of the month, and I'm hoping to get the record to her. I was reminded that nobody can play 78s any more, so I started thinking of sending over a player with the record. I must have at least 2 or 3 little players kicking round here somewhere, but of course I can't seem to find them. Gonna take another look around, but I figured it might also be prudent to reach out now while there's still time.
If you've got one you can spare, you'll be helping me put together what I hope will be a very cool Christmas/birthday present.
Thanks,
-- Dave
