There are also some high end X'tal radio kits, but the list above appeared to be in the more affordable range.
That ought to get you to what you want. Also, Al Klase put together a X'tal radio building class several years ago. It might be available as a video on the clubs website.

I am looking to buy radio kits as a teaching aid to give to grammar school kids to build. There used to be crystal radio, solar radio, transistor radio and tube radio kits for kids to build but the old vendors are either closed or not selling these anymore. Can you give me a lead where i can buy several kits?
