Could be single speed or multi-speed. This will probably be used only once or twice, so doesn't need to be anything better than potentially workable. Rough is OK; I'll sand and paint, oil and recap as necessary. The backstory: a childhood friend of mine's mother (I just recently found out) was part of an Andrews Sisters-style singing group that did USO tours in the forties. http://www1.gmnews.com/2013/11/07/sayreville-woman-recalls-singing-on-uso-tours/ While sorting through some of my mountain of old 78s the other day I was pleasantly surprised to run across one of her records. Her 93rd birthday is coming up at the end of the month, and I'm hoping to get the record to her. I was reminded that nobody can play 78s any more, so I started thinking of sending over a player with the record. I must have at least 2 or 3 little players kicking round here somewhere, but of course I can't seem to find them. Gonna take another look around, but I figured it might also be prudent to reach out now while there's still time. If you've got one you can spare, you'll be helping me put together what I hope will be a very cool Christmas/birthday present. Heard it on NPR an hour ago. Good thing Ikea doesn't sell vintage tube radios or I'm sure more than one NJARC member might be tempted to spend the night. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/12/21/ikea-tells-teens-stop-holding-illegal-sleepovers-stores/ "Ikea tells teens to stop holding illegal sleepovers in its stores" "Ikea is attempting to crack down on a new irksome trend which sees groups of teens visiting its stores during the day, then hiding on the premises and staying there all night" "In 2015 Ikea in the Netherlands barred members of the public from holding games of hide-and-seek in its stores after 19,000 people signed up to a Facebook group promoting a game at a branch in Amsterdam."
