Vintage Electronics Enthusiasts: I wanted to give you all brief update on the club Resistor\Capacitor programs. A few months back we mentioned on the reflector, and the broadcaster, and some meetings that we were investigating some new additions to the capacitor selection to try and address some higher voltage rated cap needs (higher than 630 volts). Requests were sent out to gauge demand and interest, and there was some noted interest but few committed preorders placed so we decided to forego ordering a large stock of retail priced current production HV film caps due to the large unit (and up-front) cost and low committed demand for them. With that being said, I continued to search around for deals\closeouts\surplus values in the time that has lapsed since those initial announcements, and have been able to build up a decent selection of values at budget prices that would be useful to have in stock. We will shortly have a stock of the following: .1 uF 4000VDC.01 uF 6000VDC
.033 uF 4000VDC.001 uF (1000 pF) 4000VDC.0033 uF (3300 pF) 4000VDC.0047 uF (4700 pF) 8000VDC (limited supply of this value. These were 3x the cost of the values above (but still less than retail), so stock for these is limited. If demand\sales for this value proves to be high, we can order more) All caps listed above are film capacitors (Metalized Polyester\polypropylene, etc.).
I'm currently in process of restoring my personal Pilot TV, and as a result I had to order some oddball parts I didn't have, and due to the economies of scale, I ordered extras. I am adding some of my overstock to the club stock. With that being said the club will soon have a limited stock of: 3 Ohm 1 Watt 1% Metal Film Resistors (for the filament string of the TV-37. The original carbon resistors in the TV-37 are well known to drift. There are ~8 3 Ohm resistors in a pilot TV)1.5KE8.2CA DO-201AD bidirectional TVS Transient Diodes (for protecting the filament of the TV-37's CRT, as outlined in our June 2015 Broadcaster) As a reminder, in addition to the common antique-radio film and electrolytic capacitors, we have a large supply of new low-volt electrolytics rated at 50V for those of you working on "newer old stuff" as well. We also have tons of 1N4007 diodes (1000V 1.0 Amp silicon rectifier diodes, which are great for replacing silicon diodes in table top radios). We also have a small inventory of new stock of #47 lamps and some plain black plastic line cords as well.
I will be working with our Webmaster to add the new parts and appropriate pricing to our club's website soon. If you have any questions, please let me know.
