This isn't a hoax; it's someone trying to recycle the damaged or
extremely common parts of mass-produced items.  Where you guys would
throw out burnt-out resistors etc., in combining components to make
one restored artifact, he's putting them in glass bottles that have
nothing to do with museum preservation or storage.  See his FAQ on
harming technology.  The only wishful thinking here is that sufficient
people would pay for a display of screws and cables from the cases of
the historic electronic technologies.  There isn't a lot of
craftsmanship in any production-line product, much less a screw.
