The key to that ad is that the seller did "research." Every time I hear a seller say that, I start walking away because it means his/her research yielded either a ridiculous "value" or an insane story. Recently, I saw an ad from a guy selling a VOM from the '30s or '40s with the cover story that the Argentine military had used it to repair radios in the Falkland war in the 1980s. Some of these ads are funnier than anything you can find in the Onion or on Saturday Night Live.
