[NJARC] Battery damage help needed

I have a Grundig Satellit 800. The thing is a battery hog,lousy on AM and SW but excellent on FM. A regular set of batteries lasts 3hours and then about another 2 after they rest. A set of duracelld rotted outthe battery clips in short order and now a set of Sunbeams leaked all over theinside. The sunbeams leak what looks like oil. What can I do to clean this outwhile I might be able to still save the radio? Spray down the boards with water repeatedlywhile missing the speaker and allowing it to drain? Thanks in advance
