I got the rather pleasant reply  below. Looks like he is doing a very nice 
thing for Heathkit  collectors. 

Rather than the "traditional"  Kindle or Nook kind of eBook, I have chosen 
to go a step further by making the book  accessible through a free app 
called Evernote. Evernote runs on all desktop,  laptop and mobile platforms 
including Windows, OS, iOS, Android and even  Blackberry. Install the book on 
your smartphone and you'll always have it with  you for quick reference at 
hamfests or while browsing eBay.

No special hardware is  required. If you have a desktop or laptop computer, 
or a smartphone, you are  good to go. The book will  include attached files 
like PDFs. It can also include links to resources on the web. And the book 
is  completely searchable. But the most remarkable advantage of using 
Evernote is  that it makes the book dynamic--whenever I make changes or  additions 
to the book, those  changes and additions show up in your copy instantly.

The book has been updated significantly from  the printed version. Whenever 
possible, entries contain multiple color photos  of equipment. Some entries 
also include interior shots, and eventually all of  them will. I say 
"eventually" because taking something like a TX-1 out of its  case is not a task 
to be taken  lightly.

You can pinch and zoom on photos to get a closer view.

Tube listings for equipment contain  links to online tube data  sheets. 
Click or tap on the tube in question and off you go.

Most entries also include a hi-res PDF  schematic. Eventually all will. You 
can view these schematics on your mobile  device (pinch and zoom for a 
closer look) or you can drag the file to your desktop for viewing on a larger  
screen. You can also print the PDF or email a copy to a friend. I've got all 
the copyright  issues covered
