Allow me a brief story. My Uncle Jack used RCA Mark VII radios for his HVAC business in the late 60's and 70's. I would visit him way back then and he'd allow me into his workshop to play with the Mark VII and chat with local CBer's. This led me to Ham Radio. I never forgot that and recently have been thinking of Uncle Jack and his Mark VII. This is the reason for asking about this specific radio. There is one selling cheap on Ebay but it looks really beaten up. I'm sure there are a few in reasonable shape out there. Wits end is a group that does vintage revival parties in NY. This month (July 25 at 8:30pm)the band is called the Pre-war Ponies. The Flute Bar 205 West 54th St was the site of Texas Guinans original speakeasy in NY. If you like this kind of music, you should check out this monthly happening. Many people dress in period outfits but others come just well dressed. Here's the link below. http://clubwitsend.com/2015/07/06/daria-grace-and-the-pre-war-ponies-headline-july-25-party/ Best wishes. "Heathkit a Guide to the Amateur Radio Products" to see if he had any plans for republishing it. (Used ones are about $90 plus on Amazon) I got the rather pleasant reply below. Looks like he is doing a very nice thing for Heathkit collectors. Rather than the "traditional" Kindle or Nook kind of eBook, I have chosen to go a step further by making the book accessible through a free app called Evernote. Evernote runs on all desktop, laptop and mobile platforms including Windows, OS, iOS, Android and even Blackberry. Install the book on your smartphone and you'll always have it with you for quick reference at hamfests or while browsing eBay. No special hardware is required. If you have a desktop or laptop computer, or a smartphone, you are good to go. The book will include attached files like PDFs. It can also include links to resources on the web. And the book is completely searchable. But the most remarkable advantage of using Evernote is that it makes the book dynamic--whenever I make changes or additions to the book, those changes and additions show up in your copy instantly. The book has been updated significantly from the printed version. Whenever possible, entries contain multiple color photos of equipment. Some entries also include interior shots, and eventually all of them will. I say "eventually" because taking something like a TX-1 out of its case is not a task to be taken lightly. You can pinch and zoom on photos to get a closer view. Tube listings for equipment contain links to online tube data sheets. Click or tap on the tube in question and off you go. Most entries also include a hi-res PDF schematic. Eventually all will. You can view these schematics on your mobile device (pinch and zoom for a closer look) or you can drag the file to your desktop for viewing on a larger screen. You can also print the PDF or email a copy to a friend. Many of you listen to this program on Saturday or Sunday and this was the first opportunity to see it live in NJ. A group of us purchased a block of tickets for the show and plan to attend but one couple has had to cancel out at the last minute, so a pair of tickets is available. Cost is $65.00 per person for good seats in the Ocean Grove Great Auditorium. As some of you know, Ocean Grove is a very tight community and parking is virtually non existent so we have a van and driver picking us up at the InfoAge parking lot to deliver us to the venue and then bring us back after the show. The cost for this is $20.00 per person, not bad considering what one would have to pay to see the show in New York City. The show runs from 8:00 Pm to 10 and I have asked participants to meet at 6:30 PM at InfoAge. Let me know asap if you are interested, There are about a dozen of us going and we will be seated together.
