Gang,
Here's last night's log from Jersey City:
( Download the Excel file, and just fill it in:

*Don't Panic* - This was using what is likely the best modern receiver
I own in Category F (open). I'd expect you could do this with almost
any "Ricebox" ham transceiver and a home-made loop.
http://www.njarc.ar88.net/LOOP/Easy_loop.pdf *And, things should be much
less competitive in the other categories, especial A, B, and C.*
Signals seemed weaker that I normally expect, so I had to use SSB mode
to snuggle up to the strong NYC locals on 660, 770, 1050, etc. Trust me,
these stations are unlikely to be as strong where you live. *You'll be
much better off away from the big city.*
The big difference from previous years is the disappearance of Radio
Vision Cristiana on 530 (1309 miles), and ZIZ on 555 (1726 miles). I
spent time listening to music on 750 with WSB, Atalanta, nulled out with
the loop, hoping to snag YVKS, "Erre Cee Erre", for 2097 miles. There
didn't seem to be any breaks or ID's at all, and they were so weak I
couldn't tell what language was being sung. Have they change format?
Of course Snellman is going to kick all our butts with his Mexicans. I
can't even hear much Spanish here except for the locals.
Good DX,
Al
