[NJARC] DXpedition Tomorrow (Friday 9 Jan)

Our annual DXpedition will be held at tomorrow night's meeting at InfoAge.




We have a coax feed from the Museum antenna system (LF-MF-HF) for sets 
needing an outside antenna.  A distribution amplifier will provide a 
clean signal to multiple radios.  Set up on the left side of Room 9032A 
if you want to connect.  If you have a 10-20 foot BNC patch cord, bring 
it along.

There will also be a couple of tuned-loop antennas on the right side of 
the room that you can hook up to.  These work best with reasonably hot 
receivers, i.e., superhets.  There is also a lead-in from a 100-ft 
outside wire on the right side of the room to feed crystal sets or other 
low-gain receivers.  I easily counted 9 day-time stations on an NJARC 
Pretty-Good Xtal Set connected to this antenna.  You'll need to share this.
*
**Earphones:*  A major downside to this listening environment is that 
the room is acoustically live.  Bring along and use headsets if at all 
possible.  A Y-connector is helpful to share the experience with 
others.  If you're using an xtal set or other primitive receiver, you 
might want to cheat with some extra audio amplification, as when the 
room gets noisy, you'll have a LOT of trouble hearing anything.

I could use a helper or two to assist people in setting up.  This will 
allow me to attend the Executive-Board mini meeting at 6:30PM. I'll be 
on site by 4 PM.

We'll continue on into the night after the regular meeting as long as 
there is interest.
