Sure, why not. 
Depends on the output voltage & current capability. 
AC or DC is not necessarily the issue. 

I use 12VDC wall warts with >1A for my simple audio tube projects using 12 V filament tubes or 6.3V tubes in series. 
Even have a few old printer ones with a few amps @18V. 
Here, i typically put three 6.3V filament tubes in series - even if the project needs just 2. 
I like the glow...
