Gang,

You're probably all aware of the Tom Lewis book Empire of the Air: The
Men Who Made Radio, and the Ken Burns video version on PBS. However, my
hands-down favorite is the radio drama version by Dave Ossman of Fire
Sign Theater fame. This was available on CD years ago, but seems to be
out-of-print.

I was up at Columbia U. last evening to deliver the Armstrong
Presentation from last Summer's Armstrong Day's at Infoage, and
mentioned the CD. Columbia Prof. Alan Crosswell knew where MP3's were
available on the Web, and passed the information along;

Part 1:
https://ia600504.us.archive.org/5/items/armstrong-commemorative-broadcast/5empire1.mp3
Part 2:
https://ia600504.us.archive.org/5/items/armstrong-commemorative-broadcast/6empire2.mp3

These are on www.archive.org:
https://archive.org/details/armstrong-commemorative-broadcast
and are available in other audio formats. This site contain the entirety
of the WFDU/WA2XMN broadcast from the FM 70th Anniversary bash at the
Alpine Tower in 2005.

I have an original, legally-purchased , copy of the CD, but I didn't
think it appropriate to rip it and post to the internet. So, I'm very
glad it's out there, as it seems to be out of print.

Grab a copy while you can, and enjoy,
Al
