History? Vinyl is more than historic! It's still being produced (yes, you can buy BRAND NEW records in many genres), there are plenty of new turntables and cartridges available in all price categories and there is strong business in the used and collectable field. It's interesting that in a time where digital downloads threaten the continued sale of CD's, vinyl sales are growing!
So vinyl is (to quote Monty Python) "not dead yet..."

Anybody out there know something about records? You know, those largely
black plastic discs that you had to play to get the music you wanted, when
you wanted it?
