[NJARC] #12 AWG Speaker wire?

With 2 ohm speakers, 12 AWG does seem reasonable.  If your speakers had a higher impedance things would be different.

The amp I purchased is only pushing 45 watts per channel for each channel.  The speakers 2 ohms each and are capable of handling 55 and 35 (peak is much higher).  I realize I can get away with a smaller gauge, but I have to dismantle a decent amount of the car to run the new wire, so I wanted to "future proof" the design a bit.  When I was pricing out wire online the difference between 14 and 12 was only two dollars.  The car has 18 now, but it's faulty, and shares grounds, which I'm trying to eliminate.

It's not a lot of power, it's just so I can re-use the original head unit to keep the car looking original, but with a bit more power to drive the new speakers.  The head unit only put out 6 watts per channel.
