[NJARC] What make a radio desirable?

1. A big part of appeal is how the radio strikes you. Does the design just grab you? Does it make you say, "Wow, that is cool." Some of those designs are classics.
2. The number of tubes is a factor. Generally, the more tubes, the better the performance. High-end consoles from the '30s perform remarkably well.
3. Sentimentality plays a role. Is this the model your parents, grandparents or other relatives had in their living room when you were growing up.
4. Certain people are attracted to certain brands. Some collectors are Zenith guys, others like RCAs, Philcos or Atwater Kents.
5. The final factor is practicality. Is the price good and can I possibly shoehorn it into my already overcrowded basement?
