3 call = the way it was before WW-II

Draw a rough line from Flemmington to Tuckerton. Most of the area below the line in NJ was the 3rd call district. After the war, it changed to the way it is now. They also added the 0 (zero) call district at that time.

Hi all:

I picked up a 3 tube 1930's shortwave converter that has a missing tube.

It receives 200 to 20 meters in two band selections.

It has an AC cord.

There are no markings anyplace to be found...style-wise it looks very
similar to the Stewart Warner 301-a...which is a 4 tube unit.

It looks to be a commercial unit..not homebrew.

Mine has a Airline 24-A and a Arcturus 127...and the empty tube socket.

The only other item I can ID is a "Potter p/n 66?2B FCA????"...which looks
like a capacitor ...brown paper wrapping...4-1/4 x 1-5/8 x 1 inch having
four leads.

The missing tube socket is a 5-pin with no grid cap lead...one pin
connection goes to the 4-stator/3-rotor tuning capacitor.

Curiously, there is a 2-page typed instruction 'manual"...no ID on it
either...it references some station settings on the 0 to 100 tuning dial :
W1XAZ
W8XAL
W3ZAL ( how did a Bound Brook, NJ station get a "3" call? )

It's not a Marshall 738 nor Sparton ( 4 tube unit ).

Since I know that I'll get the tube type...I'll offer a lolly-pop prize to
get the schematic!!!

Thank you,
Steve T.
