Your best bet is to find a working tube tester only because a non working tube
tester can have a bad power transformer of a bad meter, both of which is almost
a kiss of death unless you find a identical model parts unit to salvage the
parts needed.
You don't need a Hickok tube tester for radio tubes, a good emissions tester
will be fine for your needs. If you have the extra cash, then by all means
purchase a Hickok, you can't go wrong.

I believe the Hickok is the best...correct.
What other brands should I consider for restoration work?
Should I consider getting a none-working tester ( less costly ) to bring
back to life??
