If you have the "white crap" on  the chassis, be careful- If I recall correctly, it is cadmium oxide, or somesuch, and is quite hazardous to to your health...

Hi all:

Got my 116X working all bands.

Also got a hum that's seems a rather loud...replaced the filter caps...it is not noticeable when I pick up a station...

Is this to be expected?

What voltage rating should the filter caps be?

Also...have seen both 80 and 5Z3 in similar models...I believe the 5Z3 is the better tube to handle the current...please advise.

And..what can I do to - adjustment wise - to make sure I've the radio 'peaked' for max reception/performance?...only have a VOM & O'scope instruments.

Lastly...I'd like to 'polish up' the aged metal chassis...have used a Dremel brush in the past...your suggestions welcome.

Thank you & kind regards,
Steve Tetorka
